About Me...

Hi, friends! My name is Carina Rodrigues. I was born and raised in a small city about 40 minutes outside of Los Angeles called Long Beach (hometown of Snoop Dogg and Sublime, a fact that we Long Beachers are very proud of). My parents immigrated to the U.S. about 30 years ago. My family is from Goa, which is a former Portuguese colony located on the western coast of India; this is why I am Catholic, and have a Portuguese last name! I love learning about and experiencing different cultures, and traveling is definitely one of my favorite things to do. My dad is an airline pilot, so I have been traveling all my life- I hope that one day I can say I've been to every continent! (Yes, even Antarctica. I've always wanted to pet a penguin.) I love animals, and I have four cats at home (yikes). I love reading when I have the time, and my favorite book is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I am a second year psych major who is particularly fascinated with psychopathology, so I really hope to maybe get involved with autism or schizophrenia research in the future. Back home, I used to volunteer at an aquarium, so I thought I would end with a fun fact: Southern sea otters eat about 25-30% of their body weight each day (kind of like me). Anyway, I hope this post helped you get to know me a bit better, and hopefully I can get to know all of you better throughout this quarter!
